Nursing Professional Development Manager/Educator-Full time, Off-Shift

Leads development and implementation of professional development programs to facilitate clinical nurses’ development of clinical competency, critical thinking, and evidence-based practices. Supports development of nursing support staff. Coordinates with Nursing Professional Development, Nursing Director and Clinical Leader to design and facilitate remedial education plans for staff as needed. Supports and advocates for the Professional Practice Unit Based Councils. Collaborates on quality improvement initiatives to enhance professional practice environment and patient care outcomes. Works collaboratively with Nursing Leadership and others to support and guide preceptors.

Serves as a highly visible leader and role model in the development/obtainment of hospital unit and division mission and goals.  Embraces the concept of change and lead staff through the change process as evidenced by adoption of new behaviors or processes and improved outcome measures.

Schedule: 35 hours, occasional weekend/evening programs; typical shift 7:30pm-2am

Master’s Degree required. If candidate holds a BSN, Master’s Degree may be in Education or related field required. 3 years of related clinical experience in an acute care setting, including critical care and medical/surgical nursing required.  Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required.   Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.  Certification as a Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor required.   Certification in clinical or professional specialty preferred.  Previous teaching experience preferred.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Strong critical thinking skills.  Motivated and self-directed; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Accepting/supportive of rapid change process.
