Description

The Environmental Services Operations Manager is responsible for successfully coordinating and directing with the EVS Director on all activities of the EVS department through subordinate managers and employees. The highest possible customer satisfaction, employee relations, is to be maintained and financial goals achieved for Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital. The Operations Manager must ensure that all personnel under his/her control comply with all hospital, government, corporate and division policies and procedures.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Oversee the timely completion of employee scheduling, evaluations, training, development, and hiring.
•Enforce and comply with department policy and procedure.
•Assist with development and monitor service expectations and quality parameters.
•Seek and develop innovative ideas to grow the EVS department.
•Work with EVS Director on budgets and monitor the financial performance of the department.
•Work with EVS Director to negotiate and monitor all vendor contracts.

Demonstrated expertise in Solving Problems. Including:
•Timely investigation of problems and following through to completion.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Data Analysis. Including:
•The use of benchmarking, trending, and tracking data.
•The use of data to improve quality and performance.
•Knowledgeable in the use of Bed Management system, Press Ganey data, Satisfaction Survey’s, and Employee Opinion Survey.
Technologically competent.
•Proficient in basic computer operations such as Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and e-mail.
Excellent verbal and written Communication Skills.
Excellent interpersonal and Team Building Skills.
•Recognizes the role of EVS in the success of BWH Faulkner Hospital.
•Builds positive relationships with peers, direct reports, and employees.
Professional and Enthusiastic.

Qualifications

•BS degree or equivalent required; significant experience may be substituted
•Minimum of three years recent experience in Environmental Services department.
•Minimum three years recent supervisor experience.
•American Hospital Association CHESP certification preferred
•Department of Environmental Protection RCRA certification preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
•Requires ability to conduct daily rounds of the facility, exposure to chemical agents and biomedical waste; ability to manipulate up to 25 pounds; ability to cover all shifts; ability to work in fast paced and sometimes unpleasant conditions.
