Chemistry Supervisor

Provides technical leadership for their department. Develops and administers policies and procedures in cooperation with the Laboratory Director to ensure delivery of quality laboratory services.

Directs and supervises personnel, evaluates work performance, initiates personnel actions, provides counsel and guidance, provides inservices and encourages professional growth of staff. Interviews and selects candidates for hire with the approval of the Laboratory Director. Establishes orientation goals and schedules for new employees. Determines staffing requirements. Establishes standards of performance for training and competency of staff.

Prepares and recommends annual operating and capital budgets under the direction of the Laboratory Director. Recommends new and enhanced technologies. Develops and maintains appropriate inventory control. Develops and implements QA/QI plans to meet CAP, TJC and accrediting agency standards.

Maintains appropriate record keeping systems for each area of responsibility. Serves as a liaison between areas of responsibility and other hospital departments to maintain cooperative and efficient patient care.

Baccalaureate Degree in a Science required.

Masters Degree in Specialty preferred

Must be CLIA eligible for High Complexity Testing

MT (ASCP) S or equivalent preferred.

5 years in a hospital Laboratory preferred.

3 years in a hospital Laboratory in a Leadership position preferred.
